Valhall

Valhall is located in the southern part of the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The water depth is 70 metres. Valhall was discovered in 1975, and the original Plan for Development and Operation (PDO) was approved in 1977. Production started in 1982.

Valhall has produced more than one billion barrels of oil equivalent, which is three times more than the original PDO estimate. Since 2013, the Valhall field has been powered from shore.

The authorities approved the PDO for Valhall Redevelopment in 2007. This included a new accommodation and processing platform (PH), replacing aging facilities on the field.

Valhall Flank West, which includes a normally unmanned wellhead platform, started production in 2019. An amended PDO for a new production and wellhead platform (PWP) was approved in June 2023. Start-up from the new platform is planned for 2027.

Valhall has produced oil and gas for 40 year. Aker BP is currently working on a new central platform that will enable additional 40 years of production.
