Det norske oljeselskap ASA is the new main sponsor for the film festival Kosmorama in Trondheim.
The sponsorship is worth one million Norwegian kroner (NOK), over a three-year period.
– We like to swim against the current. In times like these, it is important to show that you are in it for the long term. The sponsoring market is difficult, and maybe mostly so for cultural activities. Our contribution is therefore very important, says Torgeir Anda, Det norske’s Head of Corporate Communication.
– We are pleased to have a new main sponsor – especially at a time when there is so much talk of a financial crisis. It is important to have people who step forward and make sure the wheels are turning, says Ola Lund Renolen, Director of the film festival Kosmorama.
Kosmorama had to make major budget cuts during the last months. Renolen still says he is an optimist concerning the festival, which takes place from March 5 to 10, 2009.
By becoming a main Kosmorama sponsor, Det norske wishes to contribute to the development of important cultural activities in Trondheim.
The company supports a film festival of national importance. Det norske hopes that this long term agreement gives confidence for future efforts.
– We now support a cultural event that has a likeness to our company. As Kosmorama, we are in a challenger’s position. We operate in a different way than other businesses and thus create more value.
We believe that a challenging and lively Kosmorama will be good for our employees, for the city, for the region – and for Norway´s cultural life, says Torgeir Anda.
