Appraisal on Aldous Major South

Statoil Petroleum has received the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate’s permit to drill an appraisal well on Aldous Major South. The well will be drilled with the drilling facility Transocean Leader, after termination of the exploration well 16/2-9 S, on Aldous North.

The high-impact discovery on Aldous Major South, in the wellbore 16/2-8, was published in August this year. Aldous is located in production license 265, Johan Sverdrup, in the North Sea.

StatoilHydro Petroleum AS is the operator with a 40 percent share. Det norske oljeselskap ASA owns 20 percent and the other stakeholders are Petoro with 30 percent and Lundin Norway AS with 10 percent.
