Det norskes first well in the Barents Sea

Total E&P Norway has as the operator received NPD’s go-ahead to drill the Norvarg prospect in PL 535 in the Barents Sea this Wednesday.

Det norske has a 20 percent stake in the license, granted in the 20th licensing round in Barentshavet2009. The well 7225/3-1 will be drilled with the drilling facility West Phoenix. Planned startup is in late April. The operation is scheduled to take approx. 90 days, and it will be drilled to a depth of 4,000 meters.

Norvarg is a gas prospect located in block 7225/3 and 7226/1.The well is located about 300 kilometers northeast of Hammerfest.

This is Det norske’s first well in the Barents Sea. Det norske is pushing for increased activity in the far north. Our activities in the Barents Sea are managed from our office in Harstad.
