thumb_SertifiseringDet norske oljeselskap has initiated measures aimed at providing the North Norwegian supplier industry with the opportunity to become qualified suppliers to the oil industry. Three new companies have now been certified by Det Norske Veritas.

Together with Arcos AS, Det norske has since 2009 cooperated to qualify new suppliers to the oil and gas industry in North Norway. On Friday 18 January 2013, three new companies will be presented with their certificates from Det Norske Veritas.

These are Teknor (ISO 14001), Blokken Skipsverft (ISO 9001) and Arcos (ISO 9001). The close cooperation between Det norske, Arcos and the North Norwegian supplier industry has yielded very good results. 16 companies have been qualified as suppliers over a three-year period. Through its involvement with this part of the country, Det norske has contributed with resources, ensuring that suppliers in North Norway today are at the top of the class with regard to certification within health, environment, safety and quality assurance.

Funding from Det norske has enabled qualification as suppliers in the petroleum industry’s Joint Qualification System, Achilles JQS. Once that target has been reached, the companies have received offers of ISO 9001 and 14001 certification, which is imperative with regard to being evaluated as a supplier. The establishment of large engineering companies in Harstad and Tromsø improves the proximity to the customers. The first companies have already been pre-qualified as suppliers, to e.g. Aker.
