Det norske is now in place in the new headquarters in Trondheim, in the old “Føniks”-building. Føniks is placed at the market square, called Torvet, right in the middle of the city.
About 100 employees have moved from Bakklandet to mid town Trondheim. Føniks is a landmark that marks the company and the industry in the middle of our technology capital in Norway.
CEO Erik Haugane is pleased with the new premises.
– Det norske’s headquarters will be a landmark in Trondheim. Its location makes us it highly visible in the townscape. We also wish to contribute to a vibrant downtown. It is important to be visible in order to strengthen the reputation of the entire industry.
Føniks has four full levels. Much effort has been put into security. As the first company in Norway, Det norske introduces iris recognition as access control. Iris Recognition takes a picture of the iris in the eye and comparing this with pre-recorded images. All employees and others who have permanent employment in the building have to register their iris picture.
– Security is important in our industry. We also want to be in the front in technology development. It is exciting that we are the first company to adopt iris control.
Det norske’s new headquarters is located in an area with a long history and many stories. The fascinating history is gathered in the book “Torvet”, written for this occasion.
To mark the opening Det norske also organized a concert in October, which brought more than 10,000 people to Torvet.
